About this template

Replace failed sealed glass units: each opening with why the unit is replaced, how it was measured and your supplier's correction, the size to order in sixteenths, the makeup and glass type (the code articles quoted, the call yours), the glass area per makeup and the weight of each unit.

Guide and sources

One row per sealed unit, or per group of identical units. Before writing a unit up, make sure it has failed: Cardinal replaces a unit when the condensation is inside the airspace, cleans both faces first to be sure, and never replaces one for room side condensation from indoor humidity.

Measure the old unit on its edges, or the glazing pocket with its stops removed, width first and in sixteenths. Type the correction your glass supplier asks for that way of measuring: the sheet gives the size to order, the area of each unit and the glass area per makeup, and the weight of each unit for the crew (glass at 158 lb per cubic foot, NGA).

Where the code asks for safety glass, the help quotes the article: IRC R308.4 in the US, NBC 9.6.1.4 in Canada and Quebec. The call is yours, made on site; the sheet does not decide it. The client's report shows the openings, the sizes to order, the makeup, the glass and the area; the measures, corrections and weights stay in your team's report.
