About this template
Room by room: the floor area and the heated area from the maker's clearances, the membrane rolls or sheets per product, the cables with the area they cover from the maker's chart, the thermostat and the circuit as recorded.
Guide and sources
One row per heated room: its length and width and what the floor covering does not cover (cabinets, islands, a tub) give the floor area, which the membrane covers. Type the clearance along the walls and what stays unheated inside the floor from the maker (Schluter DITRA-HEAT: 2 in from walls and fixed cabinets, 7 in from a toilet drain centerline, 4 in from drains and vents, 8 in from heat sources; never under a vanity with no air space beneath): the sheet gives the heated area the cable is chosen for.
The membrane: type the area one roll or sheet covers from the data sheet (Schluter: roll 134.5 sq ft, sheet 8.4 sq ft); the rolls or sheets add up per product and round up once. The cable: type its model, its length and the area it covers at your spacing from the maker's chart (Schluter DHE HK 120 51: 169.8 ft, 51.4 sq ft at 3 studs; nVent NUHEAT N1C050: 188 ft, 50 sq ft at 3 in), and how many; the sheet shows the area covered and its difference with the heated area. The cable cannot be cut: the choice of cable is yours.
A survey, never a design: no load is computed and nothing is judged. The connection, the circuit and the thermostat wiring are electrical work. In Quebec the RBQ asks a licence with subcategory 16 (Entrepreneur en électricité), the CMEQ qualifies these contractors; Schluter asks a qualified person under the Canadian Electrical Code or the National Electrical Code; in the US, check what your state or city requires. The client's report shows the rooms, the areas, the membrane and the cables; the clearances, the chart figures and the difference stay in your team's report.
