About this template
Area by area: the paved area, the soil to dig over the base's footprint, the granular base in cubic yards and tonnes, and the base and surface courses in tonnes per mix from your plant's density, with the slope.
Guide and sources
One row per area to pave: the length and width, with the curves added or taken out, give the paved area. Type the base's extension past the edge (CAA-Québec: at least 12 in each side) and the dig depth below the finished surface (CAA-Québec: 12 to 18 in in sandy soil, 18 in or more in clay): the sheet gives the footprint and the soil to dig. Locate the lines before digging (Info-Excavation, 811).
The base: its material, its compacted depth (Toronto: 150 mm of Granular A; Shaker Heights: 6 in) and an allowance for the loose stone (ToolGrit: 15 to 25%), in cubic yards, and in tonnes once you type your quarry's density. The asphalt: a base course and a surface course, each with its mix, its compacted thickness (CAA-Québec: at least 2 in after compaction; Toronto: 2 lifts of 40 mm) and your plant's density (Illinois DOT: 112 lb per sq yd per inch), with your waste; tonnes add up per mix and round up once. The slope (CAA-Québec: at least 2%) gives the fall over the length.
Nothing comes filled in and nothing is priced: the depths are the job's or the city's, the densities your plant's and your quarry's. The client's report shows the areas, the soil to dig, the base and the asphalt tonnes; the depths, densities, waste and slope stay in your team's report.
