About this template
Measure floors, walls, showers and backsplashes for tile: area by surface, tile to buy with your waste and the boxes, then the thinset by trowel notch, the grout by tile and joint, and the membrane mortar, from the makers' coverage charts.
Guide and sources
Add a section per room. In Tile surfaces, add each floor, wall, shower or backsplash with its length and its height or width, and the part not tiled (a door, the tub, the cabinets). Name the tile with its size: the sheet adds your waste and counts the boxes per tile from the coverage on the box, rounded up once.
In Setting materials, add a row per product: the thinset with its trowel notch, the grout, the membrane's bonding mortar. Copy the area it covers from the surfaces' total, and type the coverage per bag from the chart on the bag for your notch, your tile and your joint: thinset makers give a range per notch, grout makers a chart by tile size and joint width. The bags are counted per product and rounded up once.
In a wet area the mortar has to cover at least 95% of the back of the tile, 80% in a dry area (Custom): back-butter large tile. Grout makers' charts include no waste; LATICRETE suggests about 10% extra.
