About this template

Pergola by pergola: the posts from the post spacing, the beam boards, the rafters and purlins from their spacing with their lengths, and the footings' concrete and bags, from the plans or the kit.

Guide and sources

One row per pergola: its length along the beams and its width across, and how it is mounted (Heartland: blocking under a post on a deck, anchors in a slab, or a 10 in footing to the frost line, 36 in deep at least). Type the member sizes, the beam lines and the post spacing from the plans or the kit: the sheet counts the posts as the deck survey does, and the beam boards from the plies.

The rafters come from their spacing along the beams and the purlins on top from theirs, each with its length from the overhangs. The footings: their diameter and their depth below the frost line (AWC DCA 6; in Canada, the NBC frost depth and the city's), the concrete per footing and the bags from the bag's yield (Quikrete: about 0.375 cu ft for 50 lb).

A survey, never a design: the member sizes and spacings are the plans' or the kit's, and nothing comes filled in. Check the city for the permit (Winnipeg: a pergola is not a building under the code; Montréal and Québec City by borough or height) and the clearance to overhead lines. The client's report shows the pergolas, the posts, rafters, purlins and bags; the spacings, overhangs and yields stay in your team's report.
