About this template
Low-voltage landscape lighting, fixture by fixture and run by run: watts and VA per run, fixtures per product, each run's voltage drop by the maker's formula, and the transformers as their labels print them.
Guide and sources
Fixtures: one row per kind of fixture at a place, with its product, count, watts and VA from its label, and the wire run it hangs on. The sheet adds the watts and the VA per run, and the fixtures per product for the order. eVolt (December 2024) compares the system's total VA with the transformer's rating; the sheet shows both and compares nothing.
Wire runs: one row per run from the transformer, with its tap voltage, the wire's gauge and the maker's wire constant (eVolt: 7,490 for 12 gauge), its one-way length and the watts on it (the fixtures table's total for that run). The sheet gives eVolt's voltage drop, watts x length in feet / constant, and the voltage at the last fixture, as plain numbers; eVolt's guidance is above 10 V, confirmed with a voltmeter.
Transformers: as their labels print them, with where they mount (Corona: 5 ft from a pool or spa, 10 ft from a fountain). The 120 V side is an electrician's work: in Quebec, the RBQ requires the appropriate licence for electrical installation work; in the US, check what your state or city requires. Call Info-Excavation or 811 before trenching. No price, nothing sized.
