About this template

Door openings with their lift, headroom, side room and backroom, operators and their controls, loading docks, existing doors' conditions.

Guide and sources

The visit before a building's overhead doors are replaced, repaired or added, on one sheet: sectional, rolling steel, grilles and high-speed doors. The openings: one row per door, its type, its width and height (the door area adds up by type), the jambs, the lift and the hardware, the headroom measured and the maker's figure you type (the sheet shows the margin), the side room and the backroom.

The operators: one row per operator, existing or planned, its type, its controls, its entrapment protection, its power and the cycles a day. The loading docks: the dock height, the leveler, the seal or shelter, the bumpers and the truck restraint. The existing doors: one row per condition found. The residential garage door survey keeps the house doors.

The hints cite without applying: Garaga's headroom table as that maker's rule for its doors (check the chosen door's maker), ANSI/CAN/UL 325 and DASMA on operator controls and entrapment protection, DASMA on wind load guides and on springs (a trained technician's work). In Quebec, the electrical work is a licensed contractor's (RBQ subcategory 16). No price: the sheet is the measure.
