About this template

Count windows and panes side by side of the building, inside and outside, with the access and height of each, the extras and a safety record for work at height.

Guide and sources

Go around the building one side at a time. For each kind of window, count the windows and the panes in each, choose inside, outside or both, and how you will reach them. The sheet totals the panes by window type and the outside panes by access, so you know what equipment to bring.

Above ground level, check the anchors and their last inspection, plan the work in writing and protect the people below before you quote. In Quebec, fall protection is required above 3 m; in the US, rope descent has its own rules for anchors and heights.

Note screens, tracks and hard water stains, and take photos of any damage that is already there. Your minutes per pane and the hours stay out of a report for the client.
